DN Performance Intake Pipes
for the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4/Dodge Stealth TT

by Jeff Lucius

DN Performance makes these polished stainless steel intake pipes for the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 and Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo. They directly replace the stock, plastic intake hoses. The DNP pipes have a 2-3/8" inside diameter that is smooth. The stock intake hoses have a 2" ID that has ridges in it. Based simply on equations that describe turbulent flow in smooth pipes, the DNP pipes flow 50% more air than the stock hoses at the same hose/pipe pressure loss. Or, the DNP pipes will flow the same air volume with about 16% less hose/pipe pressure loss.

DNP supplies hose clamps and silicone hose with the pipes. The pipes fit in the stock central intake hose perfectly. The silicone hose fits nicely over both the intake pipe and the turbo inlet. Secure the hose with the hose clamps. I asked DNP to add the small nipple on the rear pipe. On the stock hose, this nipple receives bled-off air from the stock boost control solenoid. I plan to use it to monitor air pressure before the rear turbo. DNP also provides the rear pipe without this nipple. The front pipe comes with the purge canister hose fitting. A 10-mm ID hose fits perfectly, as does the stock one.
